Progman-Groups V1.0, Copyright 1992 by Andreas Furrer Progman-Groups gives you the possibility to have groups in groups in the progammanager of Windows 3.1. The use is very simple. 1) Copy PRGGRP.EXE into your windows-directory 2) Make sure you don't have checked - Minimize on use - automatic arrange icons 3) If you want to have for example a group Tools with subgroups Graphic-Tools, System-Tools, Printer-Tools and File-Tools, you create a group Tools and the four subgroups with the NEW-Command of programmanager. 4) Now, you create four items in the group Tools. Each item you give the name of one of the four subgroups and the command: PRGGRP.EXE Groupname (for example: Item1: Name: Graphic-Tools Command: PRGGRP.EXE Graphic-Tools Item2: Name: System-Tools Command: PRGGRP.EXE System-Tools Item3: Name: Printer-Tools Command: PRGGRP.EXE Printer-Tools Item4: Name: File-Tools Command: PRGGRP.EXE File-Tools) 5) Now put the groupicons of the four subgroups outside the visible prgrammanager window. 6) The last thing you have do is to save the progman configuration now by simply pressing ++ The program PRGGRP is very simple. It only sends a command to the programmanager to show the group which is named by the parameter of the command PRGGRP.EXE Groupname. If you execute PRGGRP, it shows the group named by the parameter, and if you make then the group iconic, it disappears, because the position of the icon is outside the window. If the group with the specified name doesn't exists, or if you don't have specified a group name nothing happens. You can have as many subgroups you want, but they must all have an unique name and a name WITHOUT blanks. Also you can have a group in a group in a group.... in group. This is not a very good solution, but I think it's also not a bad one. It is a simple program with a good idea and for me it works. Andreas Furrer Mail: s_furrer@ira.uka.de
